Trump has been talking though when issues of the nuclear and missile activities of North Korea come up. In televised address of the general assembly of the United Nations, Trump warned that the US could destroy North Korea if necessary to protect America's national interests and defend its allies in the region.
According to BBC News last week, it was suggested that US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had set up a direct line of communication with Pyongyang to try to resolve the escalating tensions.
Mr Trump then tweeted: "Save your energy Rex, we'll do what has to be done!"
On Saturday, the US president insisted he had a good relationship with his secretary of state, but added that Mr Tillerson could be tougher.
